aperitif, you should stroll a little further towards the first district and enjoy your first drink in the »Campari Bar« or a few metres later in the »Black Camel« bar. »Later in the evening, head to »Tür 7« or the »Bruder« − just one drop and you‘re back at the »Tyrol« in your cosy hotel room. A must at any time of year is strolling through the beautiful Schönbrunn Palace Park to the Gloriette. A visit to the zoo is entertaining and a particularly enjoyable experience. A year-round presence − how could it be otherwise in a world-class city − is the cultural offer, which is not only limited to museums and the Philharmonic in the Musikverein, but also to the very special concerts in the city‘s many churches. »Unique experiences, from classical music to modern interpretations,« explains Ramsbacher. As far as the summer programme is concerned, the rooftop bars should not be forgotten in addition to the beautiful Viennese guest gardens. The view from the Atmosphere Rooftop Bar or Zoku Vienna is picture perfect. For nature lovers, the Vienna Woods with places like the »Klee am Hanslteich« offer a welcome change and plenty of fresh air. In August, when many locals leave the city, it‘s the perfect opportunity to take a boat trip on the Danube. Another thing not to be forgotten is the film festival in front of the town hall in July and August. Whether at the Burgtheater, the Theatre in der Josefstadt or the Volksoper, you should definitely plan a visit to the theatre in September. And then comes October with the grape harvest. You should definitely make a stop at »Mayer am Nussberg« and »Wieninger«. There is something very special the annual New Year‘s Concert is broadcast around the world. As busy as the hustle and bustle surrounding the social highlights in the Musikverein, Hofburg (Jägerball) and State Opera (Opera Ball) may be, away from these events you can experience Vienna in a quieter way that is rarely possible. »Vienna is a paradise for art lovers and culture enthusiasts. The most beautiful moments can be really enjoyed in the quiet months of the year,« says Helena Ramsbacher, Host and Director of »Das Tyrol«. Within walking distance of the hotel − located between the historic city centre and the MuseumsQuartier, right next to Vienna‘s most important market, the Naschmarkt, and the Mariahilfer Straße shopping street − are the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Naturhistorisches Museum, the Albertina, the Albertina Modern and the Leopold Museum. Winter is also the ideal time for foodies and lovers of sweet treats. »You can try doughnuts in peace and quiet, there are four great bakeries within a two-minute radius of us,« explains Ramsbacher and reveals her favourites when it comes to the popular carnival pastry: Öfferl, Kurkonditorei Oberlaa, Aida and der Mann. This time of year is ideal for enjoying the Austrian capital in general: from typical Austrian restaurants such as »Plachutta Gasthaus zur Oper«, »Plachutta Wollzeile«, »Woracziczky« and »Reznicek« to Italian delicacies such as »Cantinetta Antinori«, »Pizzeria Riva« and »Regina Margherita«. As spring approaches and temperatures rise, the city comes to life. The cafés are spruced up and the parks are green and colourful. If you stroll from the hotel towards the city centre, past the museums and through the Burggarten, you will see young Viennese in particular, enjoying the first rays of sunshine on picnic blankets. The terrace of the Palmenhaus is also a good place to stop for refreshments before strolling on to the Volksgarten with its fragrant rose garden with over 400 varieties. A pre-Easter detour is worthwhile to the lovingly decorated Easter markets with real traditional crafts and elaborately handpainted eggs − for example on the Freyung. Away from the tourist must-sees, the warm season offers the ideal opportunity to discover hidden corners. »I recommend the seventh district with its delightful boutiques and cafés. If you‘re in the mood for an 131 about walking through the vineyards, especially when the leaves are slowly changing colour and you can enjoy the Wiener Gemischter Satz and, of course, the famous Sturm against a magnificent natural backdrop and with a picturesque view of the city. »We shouldn‘t deprive our guests of this experience,« says Ramsbacher. If time permits, you should head straight to the other end of the city: To Hietzing to the Lainzer Tiergarten with a stop at the Hermesvilla or the »Rasthaus Rohrhaus«. While the Christmas markets open their doors outside and the city is plunged into pre-Christmas hustle and bustle, »Das Tyrol« offers an oasis of calm in gold leaf, velvet and silk as well as lots of contemporary art. »From November 15, our hotel will be transformed into a magical Christmas world. Lavishly decorated rooms, homemade cookies, champagne and prosecco create a festive atmosphere,« says the hostess. The hotel is almost always fully booked on Christmas Eve. »Even though we don‘t have our own kitchen, we offer our guests a selection of excellent restaurants where they can enjoy a delicious Christmas or New Year‘s Eve dinner. It is very important to us that our guests have a wonderful Christmas and we are on hand with advice and assistance to make their holidays unforgettable,« explains Ramsbacher. A wonderful way to welcome in the New Year is to watch the New Yeas‘s Concert in the comfort of your hotel room on TV while enjoying a glass of champagne. And to take the Vienna feeling home with you, you can‘t miss out on souvenirs from Altmann & Kühne, Heiner, Xocolat, Gerstner or Lena Hoschek, Augarten and Lobmeyer. > Winterfest.
